Spirit Works claims this is the only commercially available barrel-aged sloe gin in existence, and independent research backs that up — nobody else seems to be doing it. It starts life as the distillery's own Sloe Gin (whole organic sloe berries infused into their house gin), then rests for several months in new, charred American oak barrels, the same treatment Spirit Works uses for their barrel-aged standard gin. That oak time transforms the profile considerably: one batch's official notes describe prune and dried grapes on the nose, with vanilla, dried cherry, and ruby port on the palate, finishing dry with a genuinely rich, luxurious mouthfeel. The broader house description adds dark cherry, clove, cardamom, and orange peel to the mix — deep, dark, and more digestif than cocktail mixer, though it does show up in specialty drinks around the Bay Area.
