Suncliffe Arizona Botanical Gin

Suncliffe Gin launched in 2021 as the first release from Suncliffe, an LGBTQ- and woman-owned, Arizona-operated spirits company founded by Tom Giddings, Ryan Lawrence and Clare Byrne after they encountered wild juniper on a Sedona trail. The gin is built on three native Arizona junipers, one-seed, shaggy bark and alligator juniper, with berries sun-dried and shaken from trees around Sedona, alongside wild-foraged ponderosa pine inner bark, manzanita and western elderflower. The botanicals are vapor-infused in custom copper stills and the spirit is bottled non-chill-filtered at 45% ABV, which the producer says preserves texture and aroma. The producer describes a silky, clear and luminous spirit with a nose of dry white linden flowers layered over resinous butterscotch, an opulent mouthfeel of toasted juniper and honeyed pistachio, zesty apple candy and a finish of sun-warmed black pepper; the bottle carries a signature colored base. Suncliffe has gained national distribution in California and New York, has collaborated with Whiskey Del Bac on a limited Solstice gin, and has been profiled by Edible Phoenix and Phoenix New Times for its foraged, terroir-driven approach and its support of Indigenous communities in Arizona.
