TC Craft Añejo Tequila is the aged expression from TC Craft, the Nashville-owned brand founded by brothers Chad and Todd Botorff. It is distilled by Vinos y Licores Azteca (NOM 1533) in the southern highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico, from 100% blue Weber agave grown in red volcanic soil, cooked in stone brick ovens, roller-milled, fermented open-air in stainless steel with native yeast and deep-well water, double distilled in stainless pot stills and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The añejo then spends three years in American white oak barrels, triple the category minimum, and the brand says those barrels are charred Tennessee whiskey casks. Tequila Matchmaker's community tags oak, vanilla, cooked agave, caramel, black tea, clove, toffee and butterscotch on the nose, with cinnamon, caramel, oak, vanilla, nuts and honey on the palate; the Bartender Spirits Awards panel found fruity orange citrus up front with sweet spice on the back end.
