The Calling is a Sonoma-based project in which winemakers James MacPhail and Wayne Donaldson work directly with family grower partners to source grapes from sustainably farmed California vineyards. Its showcase Russian River Valley site, Charles Heintz Vineyard, sits at about 900 feet, nine miles from the Sonoma Coast, in Goldridge soils with cool, foggy maritime influence, and the Heintz family has farmed that ridgeline for over a century. This Pinot Noir carries the Russian River Valley appellation and is bottled at 14.5% alcohol. It shows Bing cherry, wild strawberry and dried orange peel on the nose. The palate is supple, smooth and silky, driven by red fruit, with wild raspberries and red plum. The finish is bright, fresh, clean and lingering. It is a crowd-pleasing style that works with roast chicken, salmon, pork tenderloin, or a simple pizza with mushrooms. It also pairs well with Brie. Serve around 60 degrees. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
