The Reveries is the whiskey project of Jay West, known across the bourbon community as T8ke, launched in 2025 out of Middleburg, Virginia. West sources individual barrels from Kentucky and Indiana distillers and gives them further time in Virginia's warmer, more humid climate, then bottles one cask at a time at true barrel strength with no coloring, filtering, or additives. Rye is new to the program: The Reveries only recently added straight rye single barrels, each bottled at full barrel strength, and this hand-picked Cask #1173 is a 10-year rye at 120.3 proof (60.15% ABV). Ten years is a serious age for rye and it shows in the balance: the raw spice and mint of a young rye settle into baking spice, dark caramel, and toasted oak, with the proof keeping it bold rather than soft.
