XOXO Pineau des Charentes Blanc is a white aperitif wine from the Cognac region of western France, imported by Heavenly Spirits. Pineau des Charentes is made by adding Cognac eau-de-vie, aged at least a year and at least 60% alcohol, to fresh grape must from the same estate, roughly one part Cognac to three parts juice; the spirit stops fermentation so the grape's natural sugar stays in the wine, and white Pineau must then rest in barrel for at least twelve months before it is bottled in the region and approved by an official tasting panel. XOXO blends aged Cognac into Charentes grape must in this traditional way. The importer describes a golden colour, a nose of fresh grape, ripe pear, white peach, citrus zest and a touch of honey, and a smooth, fruity palate with gentle sweetness and crisp freshness showing orchard fruit, apricot, candied lemon and floral hints on a silky texture, finishing on honeyed fruit and bright citrus.
