The Best Rum Gifts of 2026: 15 Bottles for Every Budget

Rum is the best-value gift in the liquor store. A $60 rum buys you age statements and production stories that would cost $200 in Scotch, and the category is still unfamiliar enough that a good bottle feels like a discovery. This guide covers 15 rum gifts across every budget, from a $38 navy-strength Jamaican to a $190 tasting set, all in stock at Chips Liquor and shipping fast to most states.

Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum

Navy strength at 57% ABV, 100% pot still, no chill filtration, no added sugar. It blends two classic Jamaican styles, Wedderburn and Plummer, and it's the bottle bartenders reach for when a tiki drink needs real funk. For the cocktail person who already has the shaker and the syrups.

Appleton Estate 8 Year Reserve

Every drop aged at least eight years in Jamaica's Nassau Valley, blended from pot and column stills by master blender Joy Spence. Bottled at 43% with no added flavors. Gold medal, 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The safest Jamaican rum gift there is.

Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva

Venezuela's flagship rum, aged up to 12 years and built mostly on copper pot still spirit. Wine Enthusiast named it Spirit of the Year in 2018. It's rich and sweet in style, which makes it the right pick for someone who usually drinks bourbon or cognac and hasn't found a rum they like yet.

$50 to $100

Flor de Caña 18 Year

Eighteen years in American white oak at the foot of an active volcano in Nicaragua, with no added sugar or additives and carbon-neutral production. Gold at the 2025 SFWSC and 95 points from Wine Enthusiast. An 18-year-old spirit for around $50 doesn't exist anywhere else in the store.

Appleton Estate 12 Year Rare Casks

The step up from the 8: every cask aged a minimum of 12 years, from Appleton's double-retort pot stills and column, at 43%. The benchmark aged Jamaican rum and the one most rum people would name first.

Rhum Barbancourt 15 Year Estate Reserve

Haiti's great rum house, founded in 1862 and still run by the same family. Made from fresh-pressed cane juice, distilled twice, and aged 15 years in French Limousin oak, bottled at 43%. It comes in a matte black bottle with a copper label and a sleeve, so it looks like a gift. For someone who likes cognac.

Mount Gay XO

From the distillery that holds a 1703 deed and calls itself the world's oldest. A blend of rums aged 5 to 17 years in ex-bourbon, American whiskey, and cognac casks, at 43%. The recognizable name in rum, the way Macallan is in Scotch.

Planteray XO 20th Anniversary

Barbados rum aged first in ex-bourbon casks, then finished in toasted ex-Cognac casks in southwest France. Created in 2009 to mark Alexandre Gabriel's 20 years as master blender at Maison Ferrand. One of the most recognizable bottles in rum. (The brand was called Plantation until 2024; it's the same rum.)

Clairin Sajous

For the adventurous one. Clairin is Haiti's wild, unaged cane spirit, made at tiny village distilleries with wild fermentation and bottled straight off the still with no dilution. Sajous comes from Michel Sajous's Chelo distillery and was the first clairin ever exported. It's unlike any other spirit on the shelf, and that's the point. Read our full clairin guide.

Kō Hana Koho Barrel-Aged Hawaiian Agricole

Single-estate rum made from fresh-pressed heirloom Hawaiian cane grown in Kunia, Oahu, distilled on pot and column and aged in new American oak and used bourbon barrels. A rum made in the United States from cane the distillery grows itself. For anyone with a Hawaii connection.

Pusser's 15 Year

Pusser's takes its name from the "purser" who issued the Royal Navy's daily rum ration, and the brand is built on that tradition. The 15 is a blend of Guyanese wooden pot still and column rum, blended and bottled in Guyana, and it ships in a display box with a natural cork. For the history buff or the sailor.

Hampden Estate 8 Year

The Whisky Exchange's Rum of the Year for 2024. Aged at least eight years in Jamaica, bottled at 46% with no color or sugar, from the distillery that makes the funkiest rum in the Caribbean. For the serious rum drinker who doesn't have it yet, this is the gift. Our Hampden guide covers the full lineup.

Over $100

Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2024

Hampden's annual limited release, a blend of multiple marks from three vintages, aged in ex-bourbon in Jamaica and bottled at 57%. Each edition is a one-time bottling. A collector's gift.

Flor de Caña 25 Year

Twenty-five years in ex-bourbon American oak, no added sugar or color, in a square amber bottle inside a black gift box. The oldest age statement on this list and the most impressive thing to unwrap.

Foursquare Epilogue

The final release in Foursquare's Exceptional Cask Selection, the most collected rum series of the last two decades. Nineteen years in ex-bourbon casks, 57% ABV, 98 points at the 2026 IWSC. There will not be another. If the person you're buying for knows rum, they know what this is. Our Foursquare guide has the rest of the series.

Hampden 8 Marks Aged 1 Year Tasting Collection

Eight 200 ml bottles, one for each of Hampden's ester marks from the lightest (OWH) to the heaviest (DOK), each aged one year in ex-bourbon and bottled at 52%, with a chemical analysis sheet. It's an education in a box, and it's the best rum gift we sell for someone who wants to understand the category, not just drink it.
