Where to Buy Flor de Caña Rum Online: Every Bottle in Stock, From the 4 Year to the 25

Flor de Caña is the rum whiskey drinkers like. It's dry, it carries real age at prices that look like typos next to Scotch, and the whole range is made with no added sugar at a family distillery that has run continuously since 1890. It's also one of the most-bought aged rums on our shelf and one nobody writes about, so here's the guide: how it's made, what the numbers on the label actually mean, every Flor de Caña in stock, and which to buy.

About Flor de Caña

The Pellas family began making rum at Chichigalpa, at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano, in 1890, and the fifth generation runs the distillery today. The volcano is the point: the hot, humid microclimate drives an unusually fast interaction between spirit and oak, so Flor de Caña's rums consistently drink older than their years. Everything is molasses rum, column-distilled, aged in ex-bourbon barrels, and bottled with no added sugar, no accelerants, and no artificial ingredients. The distillery runs on 100% renewable energy and is certified Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade.

The house signature is dryness. Where Diplomático and Zacapa are sweet and soft, Flor de Caña is butterscotch, cocoa, roasted nuts, and toasted oak with a clean, dry finish, which is why so many whiskey drinkers end up here. One thing worth knowing: on the core range, the number on the label indicates the average age profile of the blend rather than a strict minimum, unlike the literal statements on the single-cask releases.

Flor de Caña in Stock at Chips Liquor

Flor de Caña 4 Year Añejo Oro ($24.99)

The entry gold: four years in ex-bourbon oak, 40% ABV, with more color and character than most rums at this age because of the volcano. Vanilla, light caramel, butterscotch, soft tropical fruit, and a clean, short finish. The house dryness makes it a useful mixing rum rather than a sugar bomb. Cuba Libre, rum punch, Daiquiri, or ice and lime.

Flor de Caña 7 Year Gran Reserva ($29.99)

Where the range crosses from mixing into sipping, and widely considered one of the best-value aged rums on the market. Vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, butterscotch, cocoa, and roasted nuts, notably dry, at 40%. RumRatings reviewers frequently call it the value sweet spot of the whole lineup. Neat, over ice, or in a Rum Old Fashioned.

Flor de Caña 12 Year Centenario ($39.99)

The middle of the range and, for many drinkers, the true sweet spot: enough age to sip seriously at an everyday price. Caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, butterscotch, cocoa, and light baking spice, with a clean oak finish at 40%. Several reviewers comparing it to the 18 found the gap smaller than the price suggests. If you buy one Flor de Caña, this is the sensible answer.

Flor de Caña 18 Year Centenario ($52.99)

The most acclaimed core expression, and the one longtime fans keep returning to; The Lone Caner, reviewing across the range, singled it out as the bottle he simply adored. Nutmeg, hazelnut, dried fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, and vanilla, with a long burnt-oak finish at 40%. The dryness is most pronounced here. Eighteen years of tropical aging for $53 doesn't exist anywhere else in rum. Neat, one large cube, or a serious Rum Manhattan.

Flor de Caña 130th Anniversary ($99.99, one bottle)

Bottled to mark 130 years of continuous production: Maestro Ronero Tomás Cano hand-selected 20-year-old small bourbon barrels from the Family Reserve and bottled them at 45%, above the 40% standard across the range. Wine Enthusiast gave it 96 points. Nutmeg, black pepper, hazelnut, pineapple, dark chocolate, and a long drying finish. Plenty of drinkers prefer it outright to the 25 because the extra proof carries the flavor.

Flor de Caña 25 Year ($164.99)

The top of the standard range, in a presentation box at 40%. Dried fruit, caramel, dark chocolate, tobacco, coffee, leather, and a very long finish on burnt oak and gentle spice. Reviewers split between this and the 130th; the 25 is deeper and more resolved, the 130th punchier. If you want the most mature expression of the house style, this is it. The anniversary gift.
